Economic Empowerment Projects

Women and youth constitute the large share of people who live in the remote areas of Zimbabwe and are in dire need of economic empowerment. The high unemployment rate, coupled with the little control and ownership over economic resources and the cultural norms that disrespect women has resulted in disproportionate sufferings among women and youth groups. Our projects are strategically linked with the Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-economic Transformation (ZimAsset)-a government initiative designed to achieve sustainable development and social equity anchored on indigenisation, empowerment and employment creation among both women and youth.

What we've already accomplished

An Economic empowerment programme, Poultry Farming, was launched last year in partnership with RCCG Zimbabwe. A fowl-run was constructed to house 100 Sasso Sussex Female Chicken Layers with approximately 6 months to the point of laying. The project was sited in Nkulumane 12 Western Suburbs, Bulawayo Matebeleland Province, Zimbabwe, and costed USD ($) 860.00. Due to some technical problems, a decision was made to dispose of the chicken at maturity and proceeds were reinvested into a broiler project which has a short tenure of about 6 weeks to maturity. The first batch has since matured (as shown in picture below) and is almost sold out. The team is preparing to procure the second batch with a plan of repeating the same over. Ten (10) unemployed youths are the first beneficiary of the project.
