Broilers and layers chicken projects

An Economic empowerment programme, Poultry Farming, was launched last year in partnership with RCCG Zimbabwe. A fowl-run was constructed to house 100 Sasso Sussex Female Chicken Layers with approximately 6 months to the point of laying. The project was sited in Nkulumane 12 Western Suburbs, Bulawayo Matebeleland Province, Zimbabwe, and costed USD ($) 860.00. Due to some technical problems, a decision was made to dispose of the chicken at maturity and proceeds were reinvested into a broiler project which has a short tenure of about 6 weeks to maturity. The first batch has since matured and is almost sold out. The team is preparing to procure the second batch with a plan of repeating the same over. Ten (10) unemployed youths are the first beneficiary of the project.

With this positive feedback, RCCG Liberation Centre Harare has been selected for the next phase.  AMUK-Region 1 provided a sum of $2,000.00 to construct a fowl-run to house 150 broilers (shown in the pictures below) with a tenure of about 6 weeks to maturity. The project is located in the Mabvuku area of Harare. Upon maturity, the broilers will be sold in the market. Proceeds will be re-invested to expand the project. In the meantime, the national welfare department is tasked with developing a database of the less privileged and unemployed.

Our Economic Empowerment Projects are aimed at poverty alleviation in the communities where they are set up. As of August 2022, ten (10) unemployed youths have benefited from the project. We plan to lift at least 210 individuals out of poverty by 2030.
