The Alleviating Period Poverty in Girls project was launched last year, with great success. We partnered with RCCG Zimbabwe to procure and distribute over 250 pairs of re-useable sanitary items to secondary school students (girls) who, due to poverty, cannot afford healthy options for their monthly circle. A total of 124 girls from Nyamande Secondary School in Domboshava, Zimbabwe, received a pad each. During year 2022 circle, we will distribute 200 re-usable and 1,600 non-reusable pads to about 750 girls in selected rural areas of Zimbabwe. Two volunteers- Mrs Trevor Chimani and Mrs Beauty Farikai, will demonstrate to the girls how they should use the reusable pads and care for themselves during their cycle and work with Wadzanai Women Community Group in Domboshava, Mashonaland central province of Zimbabwe. We plan to educate and provide reusable pads to at least 10,000 girls by 2030. We also appreciate Sapphire and ME Zimbabwe for matching our purchases to support our efforts to alleviate period poverty in Girls.
