Educational Support Initiative

According to CAMFED (2022), education is not freely available to everyone – and in many parts of the world, girls are the first to be excluded from it. Yet, when women have access to education, they can do amazing things: launch climate-smart businesses, become health workers, run schools, and lead governments, making the world a better place for everyone. This statement bodes well with Gaudencia (Gau) Makuze’s story.

Through our educational support initiative, Gau has now completed her Form 6, secured a good grade, and gained admission to one of the top universities in Zimbabwe, where she is studying a BSc in Social Services. AMSCOT has paid her tuition and accommodation to the tune of $1,000.00, enough to take her through her first year. One of our core values at AMUK-Region 1 is to promote gender equality and social justice by providing advancement opportunities for the poor and needy such that their voices are heard. Our plan for Gau in the future is to progress with sponsoring her through the university.
